17 Lombard St, Belfast BT1 1RB

The exterior is bright, with attractive peach and cream colour decor, while the interior is every bit as nice, with 5 large open upholstery snugs on your left, terrazzo floor, and at the bottom of the bar a stone wall, looking very like Scrabo stone, and to the back of that again, a very small lounge with an entrance from the lane that runs into Wine Cellar Entry. You would call The Monaco a modern pub, yet it is stylishly simple and congenial, with a relaxed atmosphere. I wasn’t surprised to hear that it won the coveted Bushmills Bar of the Year Award in 1989.
