Not only did the new-ish owners decide to do away with the Union Rooms name and rename it Okana – what the fuck is an Okana? – they also spent a small fortune doing the grand old building out.

So as predicted, the rebrand and refurbishment have failed and it is once again on the market. The Pub closed in January for a ‘quick spruce up’ and has failed to reopen. The building has since appeared on commercial property agents website

Beer bore top tip: Don’t spend a million quid on a popular pub, then another £500,000  doing it out so it no longer appeals to your regulars because it will take you longer to recoup your costs if you have alienated your customer base.
