Right, I’m gonna get through this without using the term ‘Historic’.

The Black Friars restaurant, based in a historic (shit) monastery, has applied to open a Microbrewery in part of the 14th-century building.

The planning application also includes the addition of an extended outside drinking and dining area.

For those unaware of Blackfriars- you’d be surprised the number of Geordies don’t- it is tucked down an alley from Stowell Street and a few hundred feet from The Gate. The building and the ruined cloister are a calm centre in the middle of Newcastle.
