Birmingham is currently undergoing massive regeneration (i.e: building flats mostly), particularly around New St Station. I’m not that familiar with the area, but locals have told me that sadly, much like everywhere else, the place is losing its cherished old pubs. If you walk out from New St Station its mostly chain city

However independent Brum is still there. So if you’ve got some time to stop over, rather than wandering to Brewdog, Starbucks, Pret, etc. have a look for Cherry Reds, a short walk from the station

The Bar

Is it a pub?
A bar?
A coffee shop?

Who knows and who cares?

It does real ales, IPA’s, craft beer, nachos, full English, halloumi, coffee and more all in a cool, red themed, continental style bar with seating areas on all floors, food available all day and friendly staff. It’s pretty reasonable prices too.

The topped fries are an excellent accompaniment to the varied tap offerings. Good for beer bores, I found Freedom Lager on draft which made me happy and the vegan, veggie food offerings are apparently top notch too.
