Greene King have recommended a buyout by some nondescript asset management company in scenes reminiscent of Rutger Hauers ill fated sale of Wayne Enterprises.

Now, Greene King is not by any stretch my favourite beer or pubs (Hungry Horse FFS) but it makes me uncomfortable when pubs are already on the back foot and they are bought by companies out to make a quick buck.

With changing drinking habits, foot fall decline and the potential impact of ‘brexit’, pub estates could make more money by being converted to dwellings or if ‘brexit’ goes badly-  soup kitchens and workhouses.
